The Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Rosary is a means of meditating on the mysteries of the Gospels, and thus drawing closer to Christ.
To pray the Rosary:
1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross.
2. Pray the Apostles Creed.
3. Pray the Our Father.
4. Pray three Hail Marys.
5. Pray the Glory Be.
6. Ask for the special intentions of the Rosary being offered.
7. Announce the first mystery, and pray the Our Father.
8. Pray ten Hail Marys.
9. Pray the Glory Be.
10. Pray the Fatima Prayer.
11. Pray the remaining four mysteries, following the same pattern for each decade.
12. Pray a Closing Prayer.
13. End with the Sign of the Cross.
The prayers above are said as follows:
Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. (As the prayer is made, use your right hand to trace a cross by touching your forehead, chest, left shoulder, and then right shoulder.)
Apostles Creed
I believe in God the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Under Pontius Pilate He was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Our Father
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Fatima Prayer
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thine mercy. Amen.
Closing Prayer
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, hail our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry poor vanished children of Eve. To thee to we send up our cries, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this, our exile, show us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary. (V) Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. (R) That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray. O God, whose only begotten Son, who by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that by meditating on these mysteries of the most holy rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
